Today I woke up at 9:30 AM and kicked around the living room with Joakim making coffee and talking about Vietnam. At 11:30 AM Jonas and Mikyung woke up and we all had meats and cheese for breakfast. It was a European morning with the French press coffee, beard, and cheese.
Then we piled into the car and drove down the street to Slipway – the outdoor hi-end shopping center. I mulled around the souvenir shops and then we ate a filling lunch of goat meat, rice, and fried bananas.
We looked at the sea around us as we sat on a seaside patio and talked. Then we piled back into the car to drive home. I took an Uber back through Dar es Salaam to the airport and breezed passed security. Then I get a bit heavy from the whole ordeal of the trip being over. It had been a physically and emotionally tough trip. I was mentally preparing to put this all behind me and get on with my life in Vietnam. Life is a bit crazy when I think that I go back to Vietnam and not to my family in the US.
It’s too bad that I didn’t write too much on this trip. Much of what was written here was written on my iPhone during the plane ride back to Nairobi, and then Bangkok, and then Saigon. Funny story how I eventually got my phone back.
